Between 1957 and 1984, the magazine "Filmkritik" revolutionized the standards of German-language film journalism. Its authors developed new ways of seeing and writing that allowed them to take a socially critical look at films without neglecting their aesthetic dimensions. Since many of them also worked for television and radio, there are revealing links to their fundamental attempts to win over a broader audience for a reflective approach to cinema. The anthology Die „Filmkritik“. Eine Zeitschrift und die Medien, edited by Rolf Aurich and Michael Wedel, explores these connections in twelve portraits of individuals, from Enno Patalas, Wilfried Berghahn, Ulrich Gregor and Frieda Grafe to Harun Farocki and Hartmut Bitomsky. The editors will present the book with the authors of the volume and in the presence of Ulrich Gregor. As part of the event, the program WIE JUNG IST DER JUNGE DEUTSCHE FILM? (Director: Michael Strauven, Author: Ulrich Gregor) will be shown. (Michael Wedel)
